Humidity Alarm Adjustment Knob Replacement

(Clarostat potentiometer)

NOTE: This potentiometer is a component of many Howell Laboratories, Inc. air dehydrators and dew point monitors.

Replace the knob of the humidity alarm potentiomenter (P/N 4705-XX-1) as follows:

  1. Remove the knob assembly by loosening the socket set screw in the side of the knob and pulling the knob from the main shaft.
  2. Unscrew the mounting nut (spanner ring) from the main shaft while holding the potentiometer body behind the door of the electrical box. Remove the base assembly.
  3. Turn the main shaft counterclockwise until it stops. Slide the new base assembly into place, with the zero at top center, and secure by tightening the mounting nut.
  4. Rotate the alignment ring until the slot in the alignment ring is lined up between the 0 and 9 on the secondary scale.
  5. Slide the knob assembly onto the main shaft, lining up the knob key into the alignment ring slot. Tighten the knob set screw.
