Replacement of Membrane Element

In a Model 6995 membrane air dehydrator

Failure to depressurize the dehydrator air system may result in personal injury or death. To prevent trapping air pressure inside the unit, wait until all sound of air has stopped and the pressure gauge reads zero before moving any other valves.
  1. Close the external inlet and outlet valves. This stops air flow through the dehydrator.
  2. Turn the power-on switch OFF. This stops electric power to the humidity alarm system. The unit is now turned off.
  3. Disconnect the inlet manifold assembly (1) from the top and the outlet manifold assembly (2) from the bottom of the membrane element (3), and the purge manifold assembly (4) from the bottom rear.
  4. NOTE: If access is limited to the sides and rear of the unit, it may be necessary to remove several membranes to access the purge fittings on the others.
  5. Loosen the bolts (5) securing the membrane hold-down clamps (6).
  6. Remove the U-bolt clamps (7) securing the element to the frame and remove the element.
  7. Install the new element in the frame.
  8. Reconnect the outlet (2) and purge (4) manifolds to their fittings, using new O-rings M83248/2-015 (8) and M83248/2-011 (9) (supplied with new manifold).
  9. Reconnect the inlet manifold (1) to its fitting, using a new O-ring M83248/2-015 (8) (supplied with new manifold).
  10. Retighten the hold-down clamp (6) and the U-bolt clamps (7).
