HLI has a history of almost half a century of developing shipboard machinery to Navy requirements. It also has a proven track record of adapting commercial technology and successfully introducing it to the Navy. We know the system and the right approaches. The long-time leader in supplying dehydrators to the Navy, we migrated our dehydrators and the Navy to superior membrane technology using membranes from BEKO, an innovative German company. Our MEDGs were originally developed in a teaming arrangement with MIOX Corporation and now incorporate MIOX technology under license. Our antifouling equipment was developed in a teaming arrangement with ACG, an Italian company with extensive experience in the commercial marine market.
We actively seek teaming arrangements with firms that have innovative technology. We have recently teamed with several domestic and European companies in offering environmental protection systems such as oily water, wastewater, bilge water treatment, and solid waste disposal. HLI brings to teaming arrangements the engineering ability to transform these technologies into qualified Navy products. This ability includes experience, familiarity and qualification to the unique and stringent U. S. Navy standards and testing for welding, shock and vibration, EMI and other mechanical and electrical procedures and characteristics. HLI personnel are experts in contract administration and the development of U.S. Navy acceptable reports, manuals, repair procedures and the Integrated Logistics System documentation for required spare and replacement parts. HLI also furnishes aftermarket support with field service personnel and spare parts inventories.
HLI and its Shively Labs division, a leading worldwide supplier of FM antennas and related RF products, share a facility containing office, engineering and production space. Communications, engineering, drafting, testing and production control are fully computerized. HLI formerly maintained a quality system in accordance with the U.S. Department of Defense’s MIL-Q-9858 and now maintains a system fully certified by TÜV Essen to ISO-9001-2000. HLI has a Department of Defense facilities security clearance.
